Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981

The main Act giving protection to wildlife and supplemented by various other Acts including the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. The act (in England and Wales) protects about 80 bird species, well over 100 other animal species and over 180 plant species (including fungi, lichens and mosses).
