polygon
A plane figure bounded by straight lines which close (join up) to enclose an area. The lines may differ in length to give an irregular shape. If there is reason to suppose that a tree’s root system is asymmetrical, the Root protection area can be drawn as a polygon representing the likely distribution of the roots.
