degree

An academic qualification awarded by a university, of three main kinds. The first or bachelor’s degree is abbreviated to BSc in scientific disciplines such as arboriculture and forestry, and requires three or four years of full-time study. There are two postgraduate or higher degrees. The masters degree (MSc) and doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree require about one and three years of full-time study/research respectively.
